With transitions the bin has to be named ‘Quick Transitions’ (case sensitive) in order to show in the dialogue box. With effects it’s more straight forward as Glenn explained and the effect can be saved in any bin, its name is irrelevant.

If you create a bin called ‘Quick Transitions’ and put your custom transition in there, it will show as an option in the Quick Transition dialogue box. You can the apply that to all transitions within in/out points on the timeline. Handy if you have consecutive shots to apply the transition to, not so much if they are spread throughout the timeline.

As Job says, the lack of qualification maybe the issue, but 6.0 did have an known bug which caused it to hang on ‘making fast start movie’ whether or not you deactivated that option in the export settings. This was resolved with the release of 6.0.3.

The button I highlighted is the source monitor button, if you load the clip in the source monitor is it on or off? The button that toggles the record monitor (whats on the timeline) is to the right of that one (v5 on the image I posted)

Have you deselected the monitor button for the clip by accident?

You can do the same thing using the ‘kaleidoscope’ effect in ‘Illusion FX’. By default it’s set up to quite an over the top kaleidoscope but if you drop the symmetry down to 2, change the Centre settings on both the X and Y to 999 and the offset settings on both to -100 you should be at a similar starting point to the FCP offset, then you can adjust the offset parameters as needed.

Have you selected which drive you want to transcode to from the Target Drives column on the left, where it says video/data? If you have is there enough space on the drive, as it will be greyed out if there isn’t.

Exporting to H.264 is pretty slow your best bet is to export a DNX/PRO RES then convert to H.264 afterwards.

You can put a keyframe on each of the clips you want to adjust, then lasso those key frames and move up/down. Or you can adjust multiple clips using in and out points the mixer grouping tracks and selecting ‘set level on tracks – in/out’ from the hamburger menu
