Okay, I’ll put it up again and send the link, I believe that it is a transient impulse low frequency noise cause by interference, and it resonates into the voice. I’ve been doing research and have found little information on how to remove it.

Here’s a dropbox link, a lav mic was used, I left in for you though I removed it, and did not alter the file. The distortion occurs at 1:04 at the lines “Huh, Huh!” and only when it’s raised to -6b. This same problem occurs other places, very rarely, but common factor is an abrupt change in dynamic range and loudness.

The less clear voice is just someone feeding lines of camera so please ignore. Thanks

Ah yes, it only appears in my headset, it’s just a cheap phillips that I like to use for tonal discrepancies. Surround system it is not present, but then again most distortions aren’t as present. I’ll send you the clip if you’d like and thanks for reply

Also I can bring the levels down to -12 db and get rid of the distortion and have used no compression. The distortion is present in the original file.

Yea that’s the original post I made, just wanted to correct that the AIFF workaround does work, and you can import multiple AIFF files of the same audio clip. But I can’t believe this has not been fixed, nor do they seem to care. Does this happen in the new Logic anyone?

  • Compressor is your best bet, or using the range tool to manually lower the peaks. I suggest you play around with compressor a bit though, try some different settings, the logic one included is pretty good. Caution, it will add artifacts, which may make a combo of compressor and range tool with keyframes helpful.

  • Thanks Bill

Yes it’s probably one of the clips playing at a different frame rate. Sometimes gens and transitions will also cause problems so delete those and try.

They don’t seem to care when you request things in my experience, they just defend the program and refuse to accept it’s problems. This is just such a fundamental basic that is missing.

John Thanks, that works fine. You can also change to an AIFF instead and wav, and that’ll work. But only once, because if you want to import it a third time it confuses the AIFF.

Also I just called FCPX who was completely stumped. This program is just an embarrassment
