Disable AppNap for FCP-X if you migrate to Mavericks!
Just passing on notes from other discussions.
In Mavericks – Apple enabled a new thing called App Nap to provide for better battery performance on laptops.
Unfortunately, unless you disable it for specific applications, it will interrupt backgound processes.
For FCP-X users, that means it can interrupt background rendering.
You can disable it by going to your Applications folder – selecting FCP-X and invoking Get Info – then you’ll find a “disable App Nap” checkbox.
Disable it – and you won’t have any rendering problems.
Again, this is only for those running Mavericks.
FWIW.
