When I say exporting I mean exporting…
When exporting direct out of FCPX in share mode to H.264 the export is stuttery and poor quality in a lot of places.
If I export pro Res it’s okay and ten I can convert with streamclip of if I use compressor it’s okay b the export direct to H264 seems buggy to me.

using compressor seems to alleviate the problem…but it’s a workaround isn’ it and there seem to be reports of this going back over a year and nothing addressed by Apple.
So we have to use Compressor it seems.

Double weird when I duplicate the project all is well and then as a test I copied the duplicated project into a new project and the problem was not there but when I again copied and pasted v1 the problem was the same again.
So to reiterate copying and pasting the original project resulted in connected clips that had ben connected to gaps and audio levels misbehaving but duplicating the project and then copying and pasting that was fine!!
I suppose I could trash the render files and re render.
Having trouble with stuttery H264 exports now…this software is buggy!!

or having detached audio at least still be able to slip and move into sync. Why did they dump that feature?
I know there’a workaround…Shift F (Match frame) an then drop it in all over again but that starts to feel like an old liner system. Back to the source…I mean COME ON APPLE! We should not have to do that.
I await the updates with interests because I am still not sure they re not going to dump this and leave us all high and dry.

I suppose that makes sense…just boshing in a cross fade is a bit clumsy and certainly not something a dubbing mixer would like much…I do like the concept of having 8 frames one side and maybe 12 the other of an audio cross fade…much more accurate…but wait…I never did that in 7 …must be possible.

which is ridiculous…I have to expand all tracks and then manually pull audio across and adjust the built in keyframe thingy…is this better??
We are not talking broadcast here are we…for the web it’s fine.

Having come so far I am reluctant to desert. Also I as an early disciple (good word actually) of FCP 1.2 so I have faith …back then 1000 quid was 10 per cent of nearest equivalent.
What I have done so far with software costing £200 is amazing..beyond belief not so long ago. I had a look at imovie and found it ridiculously restrictive so the interface biased me and I gave up on project one and cut it in FCP 7.
Cost alone tells me FCPX will prevail…but I’m English and we hate change…I know that’s wrong and force myself and I’m in for the full term. I believe in Apple. I have hated the journey so far but for sure I owe you personally a beer or two and thanks to all for their generosity
I have a 90 minute documentary looking…that will be interesting.
I am still concerned about audio mix but the software that converts xml to aaf sounds like it will do the job. https://www.x2pro.net

I suppose that does make sense.
FCPX seems a little “stricter” to me tun before…maybe that’s good thing. Have to be a little more disciplined.

Thanks…another big Doh moment.
BUT….
The edge tools I have (bought the keyboard!) I have not used much.
The “select both edges tool” (backslash) only seems to work for me in the Primary Storyline and will not play ball with connected clips unless I create a secondary storyline “Cmd – G”.
Then those tools all play ball. I suppose this is faintly logical but it’s also a little tedious. You have to do an intermediary thing before you can do the thing you want to do.
A little inflexible?
One of the main thing that drives me forward with FCPX at the moment is I am terrified I will forget everything I am learning without persevering with it.
One year from now will we all be working on Premiere??
