    I have a solution.
Go to Sequence Menu >> Render Audio for Sequence and now it won’t crash.
    Weird…

December 20, 2011 at 7:17 pm in reply to: New blog post from Philip Hodgetts. Worth the read.

The editing software that works best is the one you know best. I used FCP for years. I have moved on. I am now using Adobe Premier Pro.

I would like to say that I wasted my time learning FCP7. Every plugin, script and trick. Apple took everything I learned and made it worthless with the release of FCPX. I will not fall for that again. Years and years of learning and work gone, useless.

Do you trust Apple? Will they change everything again? Will they make it better or just make it different? I made the mistake of taking over the San Diego Final Cut Pro User Group the month FCPX came out. Most of the group doesn’t even use FCPX. I may change the name of the group so we don’t have to advertise FCPX. UCSD where we hold our meetings stopped teaching FCP7 and won’t be teaching FCPX. UCSD now only has classes on AVID and Adobe. It over, FCPX is a looser.. You can wait for FCPXI but I won’t.

There are lots of people on Creative Cow that make lots of money selling stuff for FCPX and I wish them good luck, their going to need it.

I would just like to make Apple feel the way I feel about their betrayal. I have some ideas. Maybe a t-shirt for NAB… developing.

  • FCPX sucks!!. It is a reworked interface of iMovie. I am not going to be an unpaid beta tester. It is over. I am the thinking of changing the name of the San Diego Final Cut Pro User Group to the San Diego Post Production User Group. UCSD where we hold our meetings, is dropping FCP7 classes since it is not for sale. They replaced FCP7 with AVID because it is not of professional quality. I don’t want to wait until FCP11 is out and it will only run on the iPad4.

It is over I have project to complete and FCPX is junk.

  • FCPX is tainted as the Edsel of video editing software. Apple doesn’t care. I don’t really care. I think once the 12 people who want to buy tutorial DVDs for FCPX, all of the tutorial guys will switch to FCP7 to Premiere and FCP7 to Avid tutorials.

Larry Jordan is doing a webinar on Aug. 31 — Migrating from FCP 7 to Adobe Premiere Pro.
    The end is near.

Try this link. I think it will explain everything you need to know to share from FCP7.

FCPX is too complicated for novice users and not powerful enough for professional users.

This is a classic mistake in product positioning.

Only 1600+ units sold. They should have sold over 20K by now.

Keyframe controls: A set of three keyframe controls allows you to keyframe all of the settings in a color correction filter at once. To keyframe individual settings of a color correction filter, you need to use the filter’s numeric controls.

There are two ways to keyframe color correction changes over time. Using a filter’s visual controls, you can place single keyframes that include the settings of every parameter of the color correction filter. If you set one keyframe, move the playhead ahead several seconds, and make further adjustments to the visual controls of the color correction filter, Final Cut Pro automatically interpolates the change from one keyframe’s settings to another to make the smoothest transition possible.

For more precise control, you can keyframe individual color correction parameters directly in the Filters tab of the Viewer. For more information about keyframing filters, see Animating Motion Effects Using Keyframes.
