  • You can edit portions of a multicam clip directly into a Project timeline. In your Event you can set ranges and edit just those ranges as you would any solo clip.

You cannot setup a traditional render farm in FCPX- the power of the main CPU and GPU are what determines render speed. However you can definitely create a true multi-system render farm using Compressor and send completed FCPX projects to it.

Or prepare a ‘template’ Event and Project with all the roles you might want- and then copy and paste into new projects/events in order to have access to them.

When you create a custom Role it shouldn’t appear in the timeline index until a clip containing it is added to the Project.

FCPX itself can’t do that but you could probably rig up something with mirroring and HDMI out- depending on your hardware.

Can you be a little more specific? You can already make shapes and keys in the color board. For more complex things like tracking I would recommend https://www.coremelt.com/products/slicex-powered-by-mocha.html

Depends on the device- some will work with non-controllable device. Otherwise you’d need to use the Blackmagic capture utility.

Yeah I could see why you’d do it this way but as a workflow it’s not really the norm. If you *had* to do it this way- use a disabled clip instead of gap. That way your markers will be preserved but functionally it’s going to look the same as the gap you’re doing.

Also I think it would make way more sense to nest these compositions into Compound Clips instead of trying to force things into place with gaps all over the place.

    Assuming-

-This is not a top of the line Mac with 2GB or more of GPU RAM- required for optimal speed.
-H.264 media unoptimized to ProRes- one of the most processor intensive codecs
-“looks”= Magic Bullet Looks- probably the most processor intensive plugin there is.

9:1 doesn’t sound unheard of. That sounds like a reasonable overnight render for a 1 hour timeline.

    Either/or- should play fine.
