thanks for the help.
Now that i have the right cables, my p2 data ingests seamlessly into FCP!
Question though; When i try to view my .mov files outside of fCP, i get a message “required codec is not available”.
Do i need additional software? or perhaps install the original p2 software that came with the card?
thank again!

both cables worked perfectly. thank you.
I have another question for you;
My p2 data uploads seamlessly in Final cut pro x, but when i try and view the quicktime files outside of fcp in my finder window i get a message saying “a required codec isn’t available”…
Do i need to install the p2 software that came with the p2, or do i need something new?
Once again Noah, thank you in advance, you are most helpful.

I am going to be getting the New fcpX, I have a Panasonic Hvx 200.
Do you think there will be any issues with uploading P2?
Thx

When I go to import-
There is a special option for Panasonic p2
The video content appears in the window but when I import it, it remains idle and ! Symbol Appears (as if it can’t finish uploading)
Log and transfer is A Ok with Sd content
Does p2 work well with the new FCP X?
I need to get new software.
Thx for your help

Thank you for the advice!
Do you prefer fcpx to other NLE’s?
I am hearing mixed reviews.
Cheers.

I am sure it will run on my computer just fine.
I read the minimum system requirments for fcpx and I believe that my iMac will be able to run it.
Thx

Bob,
this too freaked me out.
Make sure when you plug your usb in and when turning the camera on, you hit the mode button twice until you are in pc-dub mode.
you should get a message on the screen saying there is a secure connection.
Also, make sure you do this before entering an NLE. Sometimes it just takes a reload for secure sync.
Hope this helps
PS: Do you know how to overcrank/undercrank with the hvx200?
when i ingest the content that is 60i, its plays back as if it is at a normal frame-rate when in FCP.Is there an internal application i am missing?
