    Hey guys,

i have an imac2.33 ghz intel; core 2 duo

Its an imac g5 from 2007.

i will be buying the new final cut x/motion/compressor soon.

what amount of storage will i need for this?

should i delete my old final cut studio (5.1.2) to increase storage space?

thank in advance for your time!

None of these applications will run on your computer.

    All the best,

    Tom

    There’s some confused information there.
What’s an iMac G5? It’s either PPC or Intel.
Intel Core2Duo is a bit underpowered these days.
As per “storage” you generally should not be accessing media from the system drive as it’s also running the OS and Applications.
A new i5 or i7 iMac with Thunderbolt would give reasonable power, some expansion for video i/o and external storage.

[Tom Wolsky] “None of these applications will run on your computer.

That might be the best news he gets about FCPX.
As of our last lost week “working” with the buggy mess that is fcpx 1.0.3, I am officially advising anyone and everyone to stay clear of it until Apple makes it a professional, stable environment.

I am sure it will run on my computer just fine.

I read the minimum system requirments for fcpx and I believe that my iMac will be able to run it.

    Thx

Itll run fine. Runs great on my MacBook Pro 2009 Uni.
I dont do long formats on it and even I did, I would be smart about it and piece meal the project to save space.
I dont think the app takes up much space, both maybe close to 2GB.
    Not sure about Compressor.

    Thank you for the advice!

Do you prefer fcpx to other NLE’s?

    I am hearing mixed reviews.

    Cheers.
