You would have to cut a matte to constrain the effect, but Boris Continuum Complete has distressed video effects like BCC Scanline and BCC Damaged TV. I just used them full frame in a project I’m working on.

You could always give it a film look, adding grain and the FluidFilm Timewarp.

If your home system has the Avid Codec, your best bet is to export the QuickTime Movie “Same as Source”. This way there is no addition encode step.

Is the system you’re bringing the project to on Unity? I had this problem brining a stand-alone project to a system on Unity. The media is in a sub-directory of the media files folder.

I’m assuming you mean Quicktime with the source Avid Codec – a large Quicktime file, rather than a Quicktime reference which is usually under 100k. Do you have to a Mac with the older OS? Unfortunately, I don’t believe Avid supported the old resolutions when they went to OSX with the Avid Codecs. I’ve had to go back to an older system (with the correct Codec) and use After Effects to convert to a file that the OSX-based system can read.

  • Try Boris RED AVX.

The mixdown may be so that when the QT ref is moved to another computer, you would only have to search for one video file when the QT ref asked where the media is. This is assuming you save the audio as separate files on export.

I don’t think it’s possible to do an install without any effects.

As far as insufficient source, the play head isn’t parked on the last frame of the source is it?

If you click on the effect tab in the project, there are no effects? If that’s the case, you may need to reinstall the software. All systems have at least basic effects.
