I upgraded my 3,1’s (2008) GPU but not to one of the cards that you listed. I upgraded the ATI 2600 to an nVidia GTX 470. I keep both in the box. I used to GTX as my main card and use the ATI as a GUI when I’m in Resolve. Only drawback is that I have no grey boot screen. Not really a drawback for me, really.

Yeah, do what Pepijn said. Go to Conform, right-click the clip in the media pool, then Clip Attributes, under the Pixel Aspect Ratio you will see DVCPRO HD.

    Paul,

    1. Yep, I am aware of this. When I intend to be in Resolve for a while I use the ATI as the GUI and the GTX as the GPU. Everything is fine when I run like this. Both can be open at the same time in this config. Crashes only happen when I’m plugged into the GTX, have FCP X open, and then try to open Resolve.

    2. Hmm, now this may be the answer that I was looking for. However, the crashing only started happening with FCP X 10.0.6. With older versions I was able have FCP X and Resolve open while plugged into the GTX. Perhaps it is because Apple did some GPU optimization with 10.0.6 this time around.

Not sure about that in my case because this only happens when FCP X is open. Meaning that I can open Resolve regardless of which card I’m plugged into if FCP X is closed. It is only when I have FCP X open, plugged into the GTX, and then try to open Resolve does Resolve crash on login.

Right, I get that. That is what I do when I know I’m going to be in Resolve for a while. But I plug my monitors into the GTX when I’m in FCP X or Motion because the playback is better. However, if I happen to open Resolve while being plugged in the GTX it crashes. So, yes, there is a workaround but I’m sure that Resolve shouldn’t crash because of this either.

So, are we thinking this has to do with the way Nvidia handles OpenCL vs ATI? Also, I find it strange that I don’t have this issue on my 2008 Mac Pro that still has the stock ATI Radeon HD 2600 (FCPX does not support this card, I installed it on that machine to see what would happen). Are your HDs going to sleep by chance?

Yeah, that is what I thought but was hoping for otherwise. Would be cool if it automatically used all present GPUs.

    Thanks!

Was the footage slow motion? If so… https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/344/8900

  • Update: I have done my testing and replied and sent screenshots to the Apple rep. who contacted me via email. He replied back saying that he has forwarded this issue to the engineers. I like this. Has been everyone’s experience when submitting bugs to Apple?
