thanks dave for your replay. i am aware of this possibility. due to the fact that there are really alot of referenced files in there it takes some hours to open up maybe even as long as a brain surgery would take. that’s why i asked if anyone knows of a solution to skip it.
my solution right now is to detach the after effects file from all referencing files so the there won’t be a searching process for the referenced files.

    hi ron
    thanks for the response.
i did the test you suggested, but that didn’t change anything. what also speaks against the hardware issue is the fact that (running on OS X 10.5.2) it works fine in AE7. Just not in CS3.
why i need the 30000px? the composition was first built with AE7 and used alot of perspective effects. anyway of course there would be a workaround. still i would consider it a bug.
    maybe someone can reproduce it:
make a comp 1024px x 576px. make a solid in this comp which is 30000px x 100px. make it a 3D layer and set y-rotation to -70 degree. while interaction, the layer is visible in its correct size. as soon as you stop it is being cut off. with a y-rotation of +70 degrees there is no cut off.

    Thanks Dan for the reply.
It’s a pity that just copying keyframes can’t be done in one step. But after i figured out how the keyframe attributes work i could finalize my script. If i find the time i will pack it into a function.
In case anyone is interested in a script which switches the FE-Toner to the built-in Tritone Effect, just reply to this post.

unfortunately until now no one found the time to reply to my question. i still would be curious.

anyhow. i finished my script to convert one effect to another. in my case i needed to switch the 3rd party FE-Toner to the built-in Tritone Effect. Except the fact that i can only copy none keyframed effects it works like a charm. At least on my system.

If anyone is interested in the script i could email it.
