    hi
has anyone of you noticed the fact, that a layer which is 30000px wide and 3d is being cut off after about 16000px (counted from the left corner). this happens either with a solid or a pre-composition.
the weird thing is that when you interact with it (rotating, sliding, scaling) the preview shown is correct. as soon as you stop the interaction (release the mouse button) the layer is being cut off.
it doesn’t matter if you have a camera or not.
it occurs in CS3 on both mac and pc.
    it didn’t occur with AE7.
do you now of a solution other than not making a 30000px wide solid ;)?
    thanks
    jakob

um… get more video cards? Rubberband them together?

I’m pretty sure it’s a hardware limitation… as a test, can you make the layer the same width, but not as high and see more of the layer?

Why, exactly, does your solid need to be 30000 pixels wide? I’m not saying it doesn’t need to be, but maybe there is a solution that would allow you to use something more realistically manageable.

    hi ron
    thanks for the response.
i did the test you suggested, but that didn’t change anything. what also speaks against the hardware issue is the fact that (running on OS X 10.5.2) it works fine in AE7. Just not in CS3.
why i need the 30000px? the composition was first built with AE7 and used alot of perspective effects. anyway of course there would be a workaround. still i would consider it a bug.
    maybe someone can reproduce it:
make a comp 1024px x 576px. make a solid in this comp which is 30000px x 100px. make it a 3D layer and set y-rotation to -70 degree. while interaction, the layer is visible in its correct size. as soon as you stop it is being cut off. with a y-rotation of +70 degrees there is no cut off.
