Adobe doesn’t do GPU Red debayer as well. It’s strictly done in CPU. Mercury engine just speeds up the rest of the render. Nobody is allowed to do R3D GPU debayer. It’s kinda ironic, because, there are no technical reasons for that, as Red Rocket itself is a GPU device. I know of at least one company, that did try a crude GPU debayer of R3D and without any optimizing of the code was able to achieve 18 FPS. Nevertheless, Red owns R3D and they are free to set any policy they wish. And they choose to sell Red Rockets…
On the other hand, ARRI RAW GPU debayer is allowed…

  • Nope, you’ll get zero increase in speed by replacing GT120 with FX4000 in this configuration. On the other hand, by simply adding a GT120 or other qualified GPU to two FX4000 you will get a dramatic improvement…

  • What you just said makes no sense. Neither Smoke nor Scratch support multiple GPUs. In case of Resolve, you can replace one of FX4000 with GT120 and you’ll get the same results. Waste of FX4000 in such configuration…

May be cause he didn’t buy it?:-)

  • Just curious. You say you have two FX4000 cards? You do realize, that one of the cards will be completely misused. With two GPU cards configuration, only one actually does the render. The second only renders the interface and can be easily replaced by a $100 GT120 card with the same results.

Am I the only one, who’s seeingI the irony in the situation, where client is looking for $15-$50k monitor, while Color or Resolve with Wave is being used?

I can read Greek (similar alphabet) but it doesn’t mean I can understand it. Just being able to manipulate Truelight file doesn’t mean, that Resolve will interpret it correctly. Truelight is not just a software, like Cinespace. It’s a fully self contained color management solution, specifically designed to work with their own hardware. That hardware box takes SDI signal and internally applies color transforms for correct output. That is why to use their LUT may be not as simple as it seems.

Just wait till Resolve 8. It has a proper denoise node.
