Yeap, was looking for someone in PAL world also.
Do you have any problems with it?
It looks to me as easy setups are not what they should be. PAL does not use squere pixels. Maybe we should make a small letter to Aja about it. Rest of the stuff looks stable, but I would like to see good easy setups as my editors (I am tech support, not an editor, but have lots of experience in editing too) are having problems.

It is very intrigueing as Apple support says that it is 85MB and when you come to the page with the download it is just 14MB. Not a beast. But, I have FCP studio, maybe it is different when you enter FCP serial number.

  • IO does not have anything to do with dynamic (or any other) RT in FCP 4.x or 5. The only thing IO does is what it’s name says I(nput)O(utput) and nothing else.

If you need more RT power buy more memory (but it will not help you as you already have 4GB), faster computer (well, not much help if you buy a 2×2.7GHz) and faster disks (to be very honest XRaid is not my favourite, dual channel SCSI U320 is!).

    Hope this helps you,

Sorry, but I do not understand this!
Did you write that there is no way that I will see at least one stream of HD comming from FC connected FC4210 in real time?
All I want to see is a stream of video with no effects, no transitions or anything, just a simple stream. Will I be able to see it?

July 12, 2005 at 9:41 am in reply to: FCP and Sony Z1 HDV compatible?

Well, the only question is which is your final format? Is it SD or HD? As far as I can see it is NTSC, right?
If you plan to do all in DV then use DV on Z1 also. But we tested all three modes of Z1 and found that DVcam mode is superior (at least for some stuff we shoot and finalize everyday) as it requires a bit less postprocessing then DV mode. Maybe it is not a bad idea for you too. Try to shoot something in DV and DVcam and compare it.
Hope that this will help you,

FCP5 is fully compatible and supports HDV format with no obvious problems.
We have Z1 for some time now and FCP studio which came about a week ago and everything works fine with not much rendering and/or problems.
Hope that this answers your question,
