In the Source Channel Mappings there is a check box for Mono as Stereo. If you map stereo audio in this manner you will get two stereo tracks for your clip, one of the Left channel panned evenly and one of the right channel panned evenly. YOu can then, pan those any way you want in a stereo mix.

You cannot auto-designate the end track selection, but you can split the channels and preserve the stereo-ness to tweak to your likings.

Export to FLV files (all frame size)

Edit Audio from Audio/Video clip directly in Audition without breaking up the clip.

Titles are now project based and can be exported if necessary. Title will be created inside your project panel and dynamically save as you modify them.

Extract Audio Function to make a synthetic Audio only clip instance from any Audio/Video clip.

Unfortunately, if you were to import two project that referenced the same media, it would pull in two instances of that clip, one for each project. From your comments, it would appear that this is consistent with 1.5.

You can make iPod video with MPEG 4 files. In fact, i have found those to be a lot better when compressing to a small size and wanted the full screen playback to look reasonable.

The AAC audio encoder is not available in the Adobe Media Encoder using QUicktime nor in the Export Movie dialog using Quicktime. I suspect it might be an encoder that apple retains for its own source apps.

Adobe’s preview files (for DV) have been based on the AVI format since Premiere became Premiere Pro (PC Only).
With 2.0 what you now have is a new uncompressed format (AVI based) that renders in both SD (8 & 10bit) and HD (8 & 10bit), you can force render anything at 10bit or at 8bit, there is a check box for that. The DV preview file format is unchanged as far as I know. HDV preview format would be the Native HDV format used with capture. There is no way to render preview files using the quicktime codec.

What the new Uncompressed SD codec allows you to do (for example), is take a DV project and import it into an SD/SDI (Uncompressed) project and render it uncompressed… And that is natively without any hardware, if you have hardware (AJA Xena HS or BMD) you could layback to DigiBeta (SDI) from the timeline.

Source Channel Mapping is a dialog that opens with an assignable keyboard shortcut and then there are controls that you have to click.

Once you are in the dialog, you have speaker icons for each of the channels (you can swap them or turn them off or leave them as is), you also have a check box to remap the clip as stereo, mono-stereo, mono or 5.1 surround. I have screen caps from my book, but I don’t have that much time to go through and post them.

Once you make your choice on a master clip, does this follow into any subclips you might make from the master clip?

You must turn on the Remapping before you edit with the clips and then all subsequent children of the master will adhere to the settings. You cannot remap audio clips that have already been added to the timeline.

If the workflow on a particular project calls for scene detection during capturing and you want every clip from a source tape or file to be mono channels on the timeline, is there any way to batch this after capture or import of clips or do you have to change every clip separately?

You cannot run a batch process, but as long as all the captured clips have the same captured audio settings, you can select all the clips and execute the same remap on the ones selected.

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to determine how much the audio handling is fixed. Could be anywhere from from 40-90% fixed, depending on the anwers, IMO?”

Hope that helps. This feature allows you to capture a clip in stereo (or mono) and have the clip show up as it would in the project panel, with Audio and Video mixed. Once you change the source channel mappings to Mono, when the clip is added to the timeline, it requires two mono tracks to display the stereo audio. Both the mono clips are linked to the video so if you were to edit or trim one of them, you would want to “alt” trim so that it remained linked, but didn’t trim the other elements.

Black Magic should have current drivers, I am not sure if they posted them, but I know they have been working out last minute kinks. My last install did not put the presets where they should be, but I know it was still being worked on.
You definitely need new 2.0 drivers.

It’s an effect that has to be applied. It can have a short tag for the source name, but it is one line that can be TC, Frames or a counter with source TC or custom assigned TC.

Yes.
If you have a Video clip with Stereo audio, you drop it into:

V1 – XXX
A1 (stereo)- XXX

Once you remap the source audio you drop it into the timeline and it looks like this:

V1 – XXX
A1 (mono) – XXX
A2 (mono) – XXX

And now each channel is linked to the source video, but is on its own independent track. Again, this is not too documented in the press release, but its in there and boy is it great! Especially, when you disable the audio of a source clip that you want to be video only all the time.
