  • I know in Windows you can run 2 different cards and 3 if you needed to on some motherboards that have 3 PCI16x slots.

Dynamic linking is the main reason I switched it saved me so much time between After effects and Editing I can over look the other things.

[Benjamin Lundin] “Yes there’s some things that I don’t like at all in premiere, which I hope to see a improvement on in CS6. A big one is the timeline trimming. I don’t see why there shouldn’t be a way to trim directly on the timeline without having to open the trim windows. I know, I sound lazy, but I like to trim a lot and I do it often, so it’s something stopping me from getting a fast workflow. “

The Trim window is kind of pain but after you setup up custom keyboard commands and multi monitor system I’ve grown to love it.
So basically you can use the keyboard but its still not on the main timeline.

Wow everyone that afraid of Windows? I made the switch and its been smooth.
    Biggest plus is the cost.

Thunderbolt isn’t Apple only its coming to PC it’s called lightpeak. SONY and Asus have announced their releasing it.

Also if you follow TonyMac and build a PC from Asus parts Lion installs without issue and even updates without issue.

Windows is the last thing to worry about in the switch. Get a good Asus mono and videocard along with quality ram the system will be fast and stable. I’ve been happy with windows 7.

Also for the record since no one can read about Windows 8 the metro interface is totally optional! I’m running beta in VMware and its runs just like Win7’s.

Thanks guys both methods work well. I ended up using the garbage matte becausei don’t have render it out to edit the video first.

    What resources?

Its already using less resources than FCP did.

The no transcoding and intergration with AE alone to me better than AVID’s offering. Plus everything included with the suite.

The 3rd party do need tweaks.

November 1, 2011 at 10:01 pm in reply to: How well is FCPX selling?

That’s because Mom and Dads also bought the program. I bought thinking it was great then it turned out to be a waste of money. I wouldn’t use the App store to judge how the program is being used. Also considering you can’t buy them anywhere but the app store helps numbers for both Lion and FCPX.

October 19, 2011 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Premier Pro CS5.5 Render Times (computer built for it)

[Patrick Lastname] “I added “Lighting Effects” in Premiere Pro, basically a point light. I used it to correct some dark arias in the video. I decided to just us “Brightness & Contrast” settings instead, but I was worried about the render time after being used to it going allot fast in After Effects.”

Then you should be able to render that video out quickly it sounds like Cuda isn’t working.

I built an i5 just for Adobe Production Suite 5.5 and a 10min 1080p AVCHD video with effects takes less than 10mins. That’s just using Premiere Pro

A 6min 1080 video with AE effects dynamically linked took an 1hr that’s using 1 light , 3D Layers, Shadows, Motion blur and Chroma Key
    Here is that video https://niadatv.com/programs/autozone_a2z.htm

So if your using AE for effects then yes that sounds about right.

Still have to background transcode this was the biggest turnoff for me.

October 15, 2011 at 9:50 pm in reply to: Could SIRI be used in Desktops?

[Sohrab Sandhu] “Eh? It might look stupid right now but wait for a year then tell me when most of the smartphones will have this voice enabled technology.”

Most phones already had this! Apple just now marketing like its a new technology!Granted Apple probably made it better. BlackBerry and Androids that had it I used it lot but after awhile it the fun wears off except when I’m driving.

I even used Dragon Naturally Speaking after an accident and could use my hands and it worked well. I still think its a pointless technology until it can work with noise in the background and can understand accents.

Stop making siri out to something more than it is.
