    Render As….

    Select Mainconcept MPEG-2
    DVD NTSC template (For USA)
    DVD PAL (for other countries)

If you want to use higher bitrate, select “custom” button, Video tab and type in your bit rates.

You can set duration under the “Picture Compilation Properties/Slide button”. But no crossfades.

Where is the “Generate Slideshow Animation” button? The manual talks about this button, but I can’t find it.

Have you tried DVD-R? There are still a number of drives out there, that have issues with +R, unless you bit-set it to DVD-ROM.

September 17, 2007 at 11:58 pm in reply to: Horsepower needed ?

I have an Athlon X2 4200+ (2.2Ghz) overclocked to (3.0GHz), and GeForce 7600GT and Vegas bogs down both cores when applying effects. More than about 2-3 effects, and it won’t play in real-time, even if window is in “preview” mode. Very disappointing. Sony needs to get their developers to optimize these all the effects. Rendering multiple effects drops render speed down to about 3-5fps. Very slow.

  • I installed V8, and it works fine for me. The AC-3 encoder is there with all options, just like previous versions of Vegas. Something must have happened with your install. Maybe call Sony support and see if they can help you.

Well then, I suppose I should’ve selected the download option with the shipped components. Same thing, except I would’ve been able to download it too.

  • I seriously hope you are kidding. Otherwise I will be very ticked off too. I just ordered V8, and it will be sent directly back to Sony unopened, and I’ll stick with V7 if this is true.

    Can anyone confirm?

September 11, 2007 at 8:47 am in reply to: discount site for Vegas 8, $149 upgrade

The email I received from Sony, automatically entered one of my serial numbers into the form. And it was for DVD Architect 2 that came with Vegas 5. But I don’t use that anymore, since I have version 7.

I found it odd that they would accept a lower version, over my newer version 7.

So if I upgrade using the old Vegas, does that mean I can transfer license of version 7 to someone else? Will they be able to upgrade too?

Yes. Or either save the chapter markers, and use these in a new project with the same video file.
