I thought that when I set end points that there is plenty of unused media on both ends, but I guess it doesn’t work that way. I do include more frames then I need at each end when setting end points, but how do I get excess media when the out end points of one clip is butted to the in point of the next clip?

It would be too wishful to think this had anything to do with line 21 captioning that is required by the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Or… C. Fixed the FCP 4.5 problem and generally improve speed and performance. This is the Apple I like. Thank you.

This is a spotlight issue. Search 10.4.9, “capture scratch” and spotlight.

    Thanks,

I’m starting feel better. Walter’s description of “Color” is encouraging, even for those who are switching from “Finesse.” Has anyone noticed any speed enhancements? Rendering less necessary and when it is needed works faster would be nice.

Where were you guys in 1980 when I lost my graduate notes on my Radio Shack TRS-80? Since then, I’ve been pretty good except for the occasional jumping virus that infects the system and backups within a 30 mile radius.

It will be interesting when we start cloning wetware. Our ancestors will not believe that there was a time when we walked out of our homes without making a human backup. In the future, when a reckless land speeder flattens our life pod, they will blame the victim for walking into their kitchen without backing up their DNA to a server on Mars.

Microsoft and Apple were pretty optimistic when they invented the automatic update? As long as we hold the software companies harmless, they will enjoy a certain incompetency.

It is amazing to me that upgrades are so scary. Even when doing an OS update drive clones are recommended. Remember 10.4.9 and FCP 4.5, well it was just a spotlight issue that was easily fixed. I guess everybody was too busy being unsympathetic to those who didn’t clone.

I didn’t intend to move the goal posts, but only get the most economical raid 1 for sd and hd. The suggestions here have been very helpful and thoughtful and sincere, but I might have been a little too ideal as to a reasonable priced one size fits all solution. One thing that you did mention that raised an eyebrow is the need for fibre channel options to “be configured and populated with drives by a manufacture.” If an end user could do this the fibre option would be ideal. (Assuming a fibre option raid 1 is fast enough to support hd.)
