Is the raid 1 speed and uncompressed requirements a show stopper for all raid 1 configurations, e.g. Fibre Channel RAID, etc.?

You can go with the G-Speed enclosure and buy your own drives. That’s what I’m thinking of doing. The company would like to sell you their tested drives, at 5 times the cost, but I’m willing to take the chance of having to swap a drive now and then.

There are some who are having success by unchecking report dropped frames during playback and abort capture on dropped frames in user preferences. They are claiming no problems logging and capturing or getting any interruptions…. But I am concerned about dropped frames affecting the quality of the final project. Is there anyone on this list who captures without a net (no warning or about on dropped frames)?

I see there is also a hardware problem that seems to be related to Lacie external drives. Does your system at work have Lacie drives attached?

So far the only solution is to upgrade to Final Cut 5.x or downgrade to 10.4.8. Has anyone found a solution that allows 4.5 to work with 10.4.9?
