It sounds reasonable, except that when the print to video fails the writing to video takes the same amount of time again. I guess print to video process must make a temporary render file that is destroyed at the end of the process.

I did check it over again and found that “Clip Enabled” was not check under the “Modify” menu for the grayed out sound clip.

What is the best port to connect the Dell monitor? I have a G5 PowerMac tower and would like not to use the DVI port as I am using it for my broadcast crt.

I guess the matter of transporting digital quality masters to 100 stations has taken it’s toll on my good sense. Why are TV stations so vested in old technology?

Is your Lacie formated as a Mac OS Extended? Is Journaling turned off? Do you keep the firmware updated? I’ve been using one for a couple of years without any problems and just bought a new one which is also working well.

I imagine there is a hardware converter, but I’m guessing. Maybe this is a problem with uplinks. The files are too large for the internet, bicycling is impractical. Any ideas?

No, we are in Buffalo and the station is in Denver, also there are 26 shows to uplink. PBS stations have relied on BetaSP all these years so I need to find one that has updated their equipment. Although I understand that microwave uplinks are analog, I am trying to preserve quality by avoiding any other linear conversions.

If you know of a PBS uplink source that can handle miniDV tapes let me know. So far I’m having better luck finding an uplink that can a firewire interface than miniDV decks.

Notwithstanding inherent DV compression, this would result in an uncompressed media file?
