One feature I would love to have in Vegas is more support regarding flash and especially FLV, but considering that flash=adobe nowadays that’s a long shot…

Personally I have always been reluctant towards Adobe products (dunno why), I always try to peak around the corner and go with an alternative. Funny thing is that in the end I eventually come crawling back: ) happened numerous times: Swishmax instead of Flash, Photofiltre instead of Photoshop, Vegas instead of Premiere, Audacity instead of Audition …
Vegas is the only one left standing in my alternatives : )

    Hi Laszlo,

Vista is kinda tricky when it comes to compatibility issues, having the newest version of any software is probably the safest way to go. When installing older versions the best thing you can do is keep your fingers crossed. I have Vegas 7.0 (Build 192) and it works on my Vista Ultimate (if I disregard a few errors now and then). When Vista came with my new machine I thought about running back to XP, but decided to stick with it anyway and now I got so used to it that I tolerate everything : )

I agree, asking for an all-in-one solution is never feasible.

But combining Vegas and Womble can indeed provide amazing results and speed.
I just stumbled upon a great tool which should come in handy to everyone looking to speed up mpeg creations. It’s a utility which converts EDL file to WOMBLE project file. So just export your Vegas timeline (save as) to an EDL file, convert it and load in WOMBLE. Works great.
    Utility can be found at:

All in all good solution till smart renderings get smarter : )

Luckily all my clips are also done with the same template, so the bitrate is the same. The only problem on the horizon is that I’m using Vegas 7 : (

Not the easiest task I stumbled upon, I checked a script from a friend, but it didn’t work out just quite.
Anyway I’m in the process of creating complex macro automation tasks which would do it. I think I’m half way there, the fact that simple “double click” in the media bin adds the clip to the end of timeline is good.
Another night beside the machine, yeee : )

    Hi Terry,

that is exactly the way I’m doing it now : )
Things get complicated when I have to make several DVDs with different “middle” advertisements. To make things even more complicated sometimes I have to replace that middle ad with newer one. I improvised on that by deleting (or moving) the ad from the folder and replacing it with a newer one in order to “trick” Vegas, but if my old ad is let’s say 5 seconds and the newer one is 7 seconds then it starts to get messy: )

When working with many files on the web, like large image galleries, I always use XML files and update them, but when I export XML from Vegas it’s very complicated and I don’t even know where to start. If I could somehow feed Vegas with the timeline order that would be great !

Raw XML example in my head would be like:

    …and so on and on…

Thing is that Vegas uses MUCH more info from XML like lenght, transitions, pixelratio, framerate, deinterlacemethod …
Just try EXPORT XML script and you can see.

Other potential solution is building a script which I can’t because lack of knowledge : (

Anyway, all the suggestions are very welcome : ))

Thanks for the tip Edward, creating files using script would be perfect. The sole burning labor I could easily give to the rest of the staff : )
If you could hint me where I could find out more about building such scripting procedure and accomplish my task I would be really thankful.
    BTW amazing forum : )
