You CAN’T do live voice over thru decklink cards on PPro 2 because they dont support asio input. ( even in audio for video dedicated software like Nuendo you can’t do this only with DL cards) You have to put another audio only asio compatible card in your machine to achive that with DL cards. And this new card must have some sort of sink input ( BlackBurst or WordClock derived from same BB that come to your BetaSP machine and DL Card )
But you can accurately frame capture audio and video and export from timeline, and also make audio insert only for compressed and uncompressed formats. I am asking BMD to enable this future but they say that this is not possible for now. You must capture always thru PPro Capture interface and video signal must always be present at your DL input.
I have 3 Nuendo audio suites, (thats what we do every day) and they all have an old Miro DC30 card with dedicated audio cards from Nuendo RME Multiface. So when I need voice over I capture video from DL card ( or Betacam)to Miro MjpegDC30 and do voice over and mix. There is no cheap and simple solution for this.
    Sorry…

Try to test your analog component cables from DL Pro first. Try also analog composite out. I am also chaising some weird things like you and find out that my patch cables has sometimes problems and this is nothing to do with DL cables.

I am glad that this helps you. Be carefull its not always in sync. Mesure every format that you use like you mesure on capture to see where is the diffrence and for export to tape use uncompressed timeline with uncompressed final of your program or use MJEG timeline with MJPEG files. Anyway, why you use QT, 5.7.2 drivers have Mjpeg avi support?

I have same problems in PPro2. I have bypass this by switching from Decklink audio to Premiere Pro Windows Sound ( Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware). But audio is not always in sync.

Is this posible in windows drivers?

  • Thanks Rahni. I hope that Luke will see your post too.

  • Thanks. I am aware of that. Did try to route thru Betacam SP but picture was rolled down. I will try tomorow thru my old DPS PVR that has TBC on input, but I have read somewhere on DL manual or site that composite VHS capture is possible without TBC.

  • Just install 5.7 drivers and you will have them even if you dont have DL board inside.

  • I was trying today to capture from VHS. This was not so good info tape supplied from my customer. No luck. Crackling sound, and lots of losing sync. When I conected my VHS to Monitor all was OK. Is anybody try this with previous drivers? YUV from Betacam to MJPEG is OK. Very fast rendering from uncompressed timeline to MJPEG and quality is exellent. Good work.
