First of all thank you for spending time on this for me I appreciate it.
I realize that rendering from vegas to HD isnt the fastest way to eventually author and burn an sd dvd, but I loke to save my files as hdv in case i want to burn a blu ray at a later date.
What I dont understand is why nero can author this hdv file to a sd dvd in 3 hrs 49 mins, but architect is taking 8 plus hours.

when you say encode do you mean what I encoded it to in vegas 8? I encoded it there to hdv 1440×1080 with rendering set to best. Should I not be using that template in vegas or something. The file size is like 16 gig mt2 mpeg. I just dont understand why it has to re render and for so much longer when I already have it mpeged out of vegas

So what you are saying by my file type is. I f i am capturing in vegas 8 with hdv 1440×1080 60i footage with my project properties set accordingly. that even if i render off the timeline to dvd template that when i take this file into architect or nero to make a dvd it will jhave to re render.

i hope im not annoying you with my lack of knowledge

yes that does help and thank you for replying so quickly. One more question. If I do as you suggest, and than at a later time I want to take this same mpeg file and make a blu ray disc, will it be as good a blu ray disc as it would have been if instead I rendered to blu ray right off of the timeline

    Thank you

yes my properties are set to widescreen. Aspect ratio is set, but that is the problem when you set to keep proper aspect ratio the images are small. To fill up the widescreen you have to uncheck proper aspect ratio, but then the images become unrealistic looking making thin look fat etc.

Thanks again Ed. The chart is great. So I set a constant bitrate to get maximum quality?. Do I still need to use the template set at dvd ntsc? I am using workshop for menu creation and burning
