    Hi,
Tiger the publishers of metaSAN software released the Tiger Series about a year ago as the next generation of SAN products. They now have solutions that are easier to use and provide additional benefits and features. The base product called Tiger Store is a software only solution. The balance of their offering is based on appliances that take over where Tiger Store begins and offer many features. Products scale from small workgroup to enterprise requirements. I’d be happy to arrange for a webinar or discuss details with you if you like. My company is a solution provider that works closely with Tiger among others.
Let me know if you have any questions or I can be of service in any way.
    Regards,
    Howard

January 11, 2013 at 3:13 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro CS6: XSAN vs MetaSAN

The last time I checked, although XSAN is free the annual support costs more than the metaSAN/metaLAN products. I would think about the cost of ongoing support and updates. Of course if the cost is not an issue there is also the time it takes to become familiar with a new SAN management environment. Since you already are familiar with metaSAN/metaLAN it will provide you with more time to get up to speed on your new Adobe suite.

December 22, 2008 at 7:49 pm in reply to: new ATTO 8Gb appliance

    Hi Simon,

You are right that the FastStream will allow you to connect your SAS RAIDs to Fibre Channel but there is much more. FastStream is a product family that has several products. The FastStream family includes connectivety to Ultra320 SCSI, 3Gb-SAS/SATA, and FC. The following is a link that will help you to become familiar with the feature sets of each of the FastStream product family.
    https://www.integritydatasystems.net/Docs/ATTO/Faststream_Selection_Chart.pdf
We have been implementing these products for a while and have hands on with most of them. If you have any questions or need further information don’t hesitate to get in touch.

    Thanks.

December 17, 2008 at 7:42 pm in reply to: new ATTO 8Gb appliance

    Hi Bob,

“I was on the phone with our representative from ATTO today and as you indicated, the 8Gb FC HBAs are available now, in fact I am working with them now. As to the ATTO switches you have mentioned, I am not aware of ATTO having a switch product. They do have a line of products called “FastStream” that combine switch like characteristics along with RAID management features. According or our contacts at ATTO, the FastSteam 8Gb Product is not due to be released until sometime during 1st Qtr, 2009 and the final feature sets they will have are not yet finalized.”

    Hope this information is helpful.

    Have a wonderful holiday season,

    Howard

October 25, 2006 at 1:34 am in reply to: SAN Choices

    Hi,

We have been working with several projects that are using MetaSAN and XSan. Depending upon the hardware you use the results can be great or a disaster.

Not all storage is capable of providing multiple HD Streams. Many run out of steam very quickly when you are trying to have 3 or 4 streams play back concurrently.

It is also necessary to look at the SAN switch set up to make sure that you have sufficient bandwidth.

Also, read a recent review of MetaSAN:
    read a recemt review–> https://www.lafcpug.org/reviews/review_metasan.html

If I can help, get in touch.
