just noticed that there is a grey line about the video in the timeline.

have tried to render with every possible option and no render happens…

    thanks again…

Soooooo, now it is working!!!! Wow, you really helped me. Everything is working, except the video is still not show in the canvas for playback, all tracks and viewer playback is now working for the audio.

Went to Sequence Settings Audio Outputs tab and made sure that ‘stereo’ was checked for the 6 tracks that I listed in above post.

Do keep getting a ‘warning’ box:

“The current audio device does not support the number of outputs set in the Sequence Settings Audio Outputs tab. Unsuppported outputs will not be heard during playbac on this machine unless downmixed to Stereo”

There is a box to check, which I just now check, (but still keep getting this warning).

I checked: Downmix all outputs to Stereo (Toggle in Audio Mixer)

    then clicked OK.

    Any more great ideas?

    Thanks again,
    Hope

    Dear kind and good Russ,

Thanks so much for your help.

In the item properties for the sequence:
    audio: 6 outputs,
    aud rate: 48k,
    aud format 32-bit floating point

    dont see channels listed.

Yes, all the audio is doing this.

Also, the video is not playing in the canvas, only in the viewer.

There is not rendering red lines showing either.

Under sequence ‘settings’/audio outputs, it show 6 outputs:

1 and 2 0 for downmix, toruping: (stereo)

for 3 -3 downmix; for 4 off (dual mono)

    for 5 and 6 -3 downmix; (stereo)

not sure what any of that means, doesnt mention the word ‘channels’.

Did I answer any of your questions correctly?

Thank you again for your attention and expertise.

    Sincerely,
    Hope

    Dear Great Experts,

Same exact situation as sanjchal, however, did a ram preview in AE and the FCP QT file (.mov) still has no sound playing. It shows sound track just as sanjchal says, yet other audio files that are .mov do play the sound, but the fcp files with audio, play with no sound.

the sound icon is on in timeline.

    any ideas?

The fcp files are fine outside of AE when playing in QT player.

    Thanks so so much.
    Always,
    Hoping

    Thank you so much, Mark.

I really appreciate so much your taking the time to write all this out, even the personal/technical history bit is very interesting.

Yes, I will study this and see what to do.

Have made a nice PS graphic and will try all the things you suggest. Thank you so much for all your kindness….very very generous…

    All the best,

    Hi there…

Mark S…I love your idea, and have made in PS a field and the embossed logo. Am new to AE and would like to implement the last 2 paragraphs of your post, and confess that I need to learn what DVE move is and how to do, and the ‘hair’ effect …. can it be done with a particle system in AE?

Is there any possibility you would be willing to explain?

    Thanks so much…

Also, noticed that if the beginning bit of audio is replaced by the audio in the part that is after the 6 min. point, then the audio does play…

    hmmmm…

    Thanks again…

Have also noticed that after the half point in the 15 min. time line the same bits that don’t play at the beginning do play, and everything is playing fine after about 6 min thru the time line.

The time line is made up of many bits of audio, all copies of the same basic 5 or so bits of audio.

The video is also play just fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again so much,
    Hope
