TNT Logo effect
Posted by Hope Holmesby on February 2, 2009 at 12:35 amDoes anyone know how they did that circle logo of TNT with the particle system at the end of the Trust Me Ads for the Super Bowl?
Thanks so much,

February 2, 2009 at 9:51 pmI dont know exactly how TNT did it, but you can do a pretty good approximation using Trapcode Particular.

February 3, 2009 at 7:16 amTroika did the branding for TNT. The particles are amazing and it appears the did it in Houdini. I hope that helps.

February 3, 2009 at 1:43 pmI actually had messed around with this look before using Particular and came up with this:

It is not exactly like the one on TNT, but I think looks pretty good. I used nothing more than an image from the web, built in AFX tools, and trapcode’s Particular and Shine. Is this what you were asking.

February 3, 2009 at 2:27 pmVery nice job, I messed around trying to recreate that look and didn’t come up with anything nearly that good. Think you could post the project files too. Love to see how how you accomplished it.
Thanks

February 3, 2009 at 3:55 pmTo answer some of your questions,
I used Particular to generate the thick bands of light and another layer of Particular to generate the smaller particles. I used Trapcode lux to generate the front “flare” and animated the whole thing with trig functions and slider expression controls. It is actually simple in concept, but quite a few layers to pull off. The logo is a solid layer with masks and layer blending effects. I also used Trapcode Shine to ramp up the glows. -
