    Hi again Michael (-:,

Actually did the search for Gissing….Very impressive, sir.
Also, see that you are downunder….A dear Aussie. Lovely. (And that is the little Tasmanian Devil….wonderful)

Compressor: Tried to change the settings for h and w, but it wouldn’t let me in Geometry. It’s grayed out. But never mind, I did do a few things and now it is working. Hurray!!!! Coming out quite nicely. I just made sure to not leave the Compressor setting on Automatic for the pixel aspect ratio and actually set it like you said and all is well now, plus other things actually set and didn’t leave on Auto.

The blue line/border is not showing up in the final output. Thank you for asking. It is about 1/4 in. wide or 1/2 a finger wide, in the canvas view only.

Yes, clips are set to none. Thanks.

Ok, so the rectangular-ness must be vertically then. Ah yes. Very good.

Well, great one, thank you again for all your input and kindnesses… and only helpful is the word we would use for your great knowlege…helpful and wonderful!

    Thank you so, so much.

    All the best,
    Hope

    Dear Michael,

Thank you again so much. Appreciate hugely the kind patience and clear thinking and great explanations.

Ok, did all mentioned and it works great.

This is so incredibly cool! I’m seeing in fcp that even tho the dimensions are the 720 x 576, and the exported quicktime movie is that size too, when you actually view the canvas and video in fcp it is the large 1024 x 576 size, showing the 1024 x 576 graphic perfectly. Hallelujah. Amazing!!!! This must be the specialty of the Pro Res setting. Wow!

Compressor: Apple/Formats/MPEG-2/Program Steam, it produces the same size movie: 720 x 576. Want to change so output is 720 x 404.

Can’t see anyway to do that, or to choose/change to anamorphic. You said the make it the pixel aspect desired. Not sure how to do.

    Any ideas?

The 1024 must be the stretched version meaning the rectangular pixel view of the 720 which is the square pixel view? It is the anamorphic view?

Noticing in the canvas view, sequence tab, there is a blue horizontal strip along the right edge of the picture. It is not there in the Viewer window, video tab. Is that suppose to be there? Is it to remind you that this is not the real size of the canvas (1024 x 576)

Really appreciate so much. One could tell from the succinct, clear answers that a highly professional person had come to the rescue here.

Confession: Looked up Michael Gizzing on the internet, and see that he has a long list of credits on imdb.com, plus tons of other Google Search listings.

Feeling so honored to get this superb attention.

    All gratitude,
    Hope

p.s. Also changed field dominance to None as it goes over the internet. That’s the setting that we usually use. Hope it is OK?

    Dear Michael,

    Again, thanks so very much.

Ok, opened the Easy Setup and selected Format: Pal, Use: DV-PAL Anamorphic

Under Audio/Video settings > summary tab, there is an Apple ProRes 422 Pal 48 kHz, but not anamorphic. There are a gazillion other Apple ProRes 422 options. There are no choices for ProRes that are anamorphic. Maybe it’s because of the fcp 6.0.6 verison?

The only options for sequence settings for PAL that are anamorphic are:
    DV Pal 48 kHz Anamorphic
    DV50 PAL 48 kHz Anamorphic
DVCPRO – PAL 48 kHz Anamorphic

    Is there any hope….lol

Everything else that was mentioned to change was done.

    What do you think?

    Most sincerely and gratefully,
    Hope

    Dear Michael,

Thank you again for this kind and thorough explanation.
(we have been using photo jpeg 86%)

how would we get from graphics of 1024 x 576 finally compressed to 720 x 405 by using the 720 x 576 format?

Have chosen the ones below that seems closest.

    Format: Pal
    Use: DV Pal Anamorphic
    produces a 720 x 576
doesn’t mention the PRO RES; no mention of frame rate
    Or
Use: DVCPRO – Pal 48 kHz Anamoorphic
    no mention of frame rate
    or Use: DV PAL 24 @ 25

    Also could choose:
    Format: Apple Pro Res
Use: (all options greyed out, no choice)
    sets it all at:
    1440 x 1080 24p/60i

    also:
    Format: Photo-JPEG
    Use: OfflineRT PAL Anamorphic

This give the 720×576 size, but doesn’t mention the PRO RES.

    Format: offlineRT
    Use: OfflineRT PAL Anamorphic
    720 x 576
    What do you think?

Thank you again for your time and attention.
    Sincerely,
    Hope

July 28, 2009 at 2:27 am in reply to: Can’t cancel a job in batch monitor

where did you find a button in batch monitor that says clear queue?

  • In the batch monitor where it lists all the batches, there is the name and status:

Status may be: ‘Cancelled’, ‘Queued’, ‘Done’, or ‘Processing’

Note this very carefully….they need to read that they are ‘done’ or ‘cancelled’.

Also note: this list of batches in the Batch Monitor WILL NOT DELETE OR STOP PROCESSING OR QUEUING even with quitting, or shutting down.

Once that is assured, then start a new compression.

  • just a note….

after deleting preferences, restarting, shutting down, etc nothing helped except this:

found that even tho one resets background processing (compressor/reset background processing), and even tho you go to the batch processor and look, and it ‘looks’ as tho all the jobs are gone…

just wait a moment and you will see that they will all pop back on, they are all still there, all the batches you tried to start, and unless you actually go to each one and click the ‘x‘, in the batch monitor panel, they will all be queued and keep running and you will keep getting the ‘unknown time’ message in the history panel.

also read somewhere that the batch monitor only deletes all items queued every 24 hrs. so they will remain. the main point is to CANCEL with the ‘x’ in that box. Otherwise all the batches will remain and just keep trying to process, and you will keep getting the unknown time message.

Good luck to all who come down this road.

    Hope
