    Dear Dave,

Thanks so much for answering…really appreciate. BTW, just moved from Iowa….was in Fairfield, not far from Cedar Rapids….the big airport town. Iowans seemed like the ‘salt of the earth’ types. Very kind people.

Mr. LaRonde, who has answered many of my questions, definitely falls into that category….

And now, the big question…how would one unlock it in OSX?

    Thanks again, so much.

    Warmly,
    Hope

Just tried to transcode it in an old program and it said that it was saved with QT 4’s feature:
    ‘do no allow to save’

What great hope and ideas can we have here?

    all bliss,

    Dear Dave and David,

Thanks so much for your input….really appreciate.

These are the settings that our video department has given us. the Square pixels and the 1024 x 576….

Before switching over the the new AE and FCP, these settings did work.
hmmmm. Hope some solution is there.

You all are saying that because they are non standard, FCP is rejecting them?

This is actually one of the presets in photoshop for video, called:
PAL D1/DV Widescreen Square Pixel, or at least it was in CS3.

The rendered file then is compressed in Compressor at some special settings that make it into a mpeg 2 file, which then goes into a Octoshape Air Box …. or something with those names and is streamed thru a flash player on the internet, for an international web channel..

Hope there is some kind of a solution…..
    What do you think?

Thanks so much for your input…..
    Really appreciate,

    Warmly, Hope

December 18, 2010 at 7:05 pm in reply to: Extra Ram and Internal Hard Drives – Speed Added?

    Dear All,

Thank you so very much for your great input.

Yes, Kevin, thanks for remembering and for your ever in depth, comprehensive and clear responses.

Yes, am still thinking what computer to get,
(The budget department is now telling us we have about $4K to spend, which is about 1/2 of what I was hoping. So trying to convince them we need more…lol.)

    1. But based on 4K, what would be the best setup to get for running After Effects? or should I make this a new topic?

    2. Also, yes, the OWC is where we were looking….thanks for supporting that idea. Yes, we found 24GB for bout $600 like you said…huge savings.

…And were going for 3rd party internal hard drives too…

    3. And Todd, thanks for the Adobe angle, thats what I had based the buying list on.

    4. And John, don’t hard drives help process any interaction with AE when working on the timeline for example? and ram previews?

Really appreciate soooooo much all your input…

    Your guys are the best.

    Warmly,
    Hope

December 17, 2010 at 2:12 am in reply to: imac i7, 16 GB ram vs G5 2 core, 4 GB ram

    Dear Forum Experts,

Thanks so much for kindly reading this.

See below study showing the speed of a Mac Pro 12 core (see the bar and the legend at bottom highlighted). This is the speed to run a project in After Effects. Would it be safe to extrapolate/imply from this that a different configuration for the 12 core, namely:

12 core Mac Pro 2.6, 4 internal hard drives, striped together (Raid 0), 24GB of ram

would be, instead of the 1.9 times faster than the imac hightlighte, that maybe it would be 4x faster than the one shown on the chart, the: iMac i7 2.9 16GN ram?
    or 2x faster…or…

What do you think? Is there anyway to guess how much faster the later configuration might be?

    Warmly,
    Hope
