Octoshape and mxf uncompressed tape
Hi there.
Was wondering if any of you great experts here know of the best way to take video which is:
• mxf uncompressed, which was generated/taken from a panasonic dvc pro 50 tape. (720 px wide).
We want to take that tape and make it streamable with octoshape over the internet.
We are thinking to offer THE very best quality for the pay per view user.
Also we are thinking to offer a lesser quality.
What do you suggest as far as:
• frame size
• what streaming rate we could consider for internet use.
• any other points to considerHave noticed on youtube that they have several options at which the user can view the video. What options should we have if two are offered?

If you look at their Infinite Edge demo on the left they have example frame sizes and data rates as a point of reference. The video isn’t 480 though so I’m not sure about the scaling.

They mention offering 1280×720 here but no data rate and their above examples are labeled 480p though.
https://www.octoshape.com/?page=services/technologyObviously their source material is high quality and their likely encoding to H.264 for Flash. What you decide to do depends on your source and your targeted audience’s capabilities. There is no “best” though because of the variables.
