I have both a standard SSD and the PCI SSD, both from OWC on MY 2010 Mac Pro. The standard SSD gets around 250/200 (Read/Write) the PCI SSD gets 600/375 — using the Black Magic speed test. I find the esata inputs on the PCI card helpful as well. I’m very happy with that purchase.

Apple can call a color with zero luminance “white” and I’m sure you would be able to justify it. They can call silence “grapefruit” and rename a dissolve a “penguin.” It’s their software, they can do whatever they want. I, on the other hand, have the right to bitch about those choices and complain about how it effects the wider workplace, both within and without the wonderful world of Apple. But by “bitch” I mean “to shower with praise” because I too can evolve language.

That’s interesting because I just looked at the Techniques forum and i didn’t see a single thread that overlapped in anyway whatsoever with the threads of this forum. So to edify us, why don’t you give an example of a thread written in the past few weeks where there is overlap?

Why did Apple call their brand new program Final Cut, when it quite definitely, and proudly, had absolutely nothing in common with that very well known product? Obviously Apple thought their was value in the name itself, brand recognition based on the history of the product. Which is why this forum keeps it’s original name, even thought the circumstances have changed. “FCPX or not” is a brand name that has value, based on it’s history. Come up with a new name so good that it creates more value than your giving up and then maybe you’ll convince the powers that be.

In the case of the quote under discussion, the observation that every new war is planned with the outmoded lessons learned in the previous war has been around since at least the civil war and is an accepted doctrine in military planning. So, doctor’s or not, the quote is on pretty safe ground.
