correct. your adjustment layer is ok and it does not impact anything. I am talking about the layer that you need to magnify. The one with the text etc on the tablet. That layer needs to say something like 80% scale to compensate.

What is the scale on that?….when I asked if you did precomp it was because if you layer (layer 20) is scaled at a 100% anything beyond that would blur.

Another alternative is to ditch the bulge all together and just use a traveling matte that uses a bigger version of your graphic to reveal as it.

You probably need to add some sort of light wrap. Here is how I do it, you need to first duplicate your layer :

1- Make sure you precomp the layer on top
2- Apply a blur
3- Inver Alpha
4- Fill with color white (because your background is white)
5- Apply a CC composite and set to stencil alpha (or silouette, I always forget which is the one)
6- Set it to add or screen

That is huge it should be good. when you scaled it down, did you precomp it? It should not be blurry.

Hey Julia,

Make sure the image you want to magnify using the bulge effect is big enough so you can scale it down a bit before you use the bulge effect. Any time you use some form of distort that scales the the layer beyond 100% it will have some quality loss. The trick is to start with a bigger better quality image so it’s not noticeable.

Try starting AE while holding Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). This Will reset your preferences. If this does not work you may want to try installing under a new user.
