I am usually the person doing the AE graphics for use in Avid projects (Avid is not installed on my windows XP machine) and have had problems with the DNXHD codec. It will render fine as long as there is no alpha (for some reason that always comes out gray) but the files are always huge and we haven’t seen an improvement over the animation codec.

You might try having two versions of the image, one that is the image without the light behind it, probably a little muddy looking and the other would be the image that is blown out and bright. you could then use an animated mask to “scan” across the blown image.

I meant to add on that each new mask will come up in the same order as the label colors.

If you check “Cycle mask colors” in the preferences each new mask comes up as a different color.

Nevermind I answered my own question…Outline stroke…so simple!

Use the pathfinder palette, the options are similar to Freehand.
