Is there a work around for the annoying setup of the Character Palette in AE7? I really dislike the un-ability to quickly scroll through the font families. Am I going to have to type in every font name from now on? Does anyone else find this to be problematic?

Yeah, its aggravating. I need to have another app open in the background to assist in font selection, due to the poor implementation in AE.

ALthough, tis is a broader problem with _all_ Adobe apps; font selection has always been goofy. Many have said this is by design for some reason, but I don’t buy it.

The free app I use for Windows BTW:

I checked out that font assitance program, but it looks old, does anybody know if it works with Windows 2002 XP pro?

Is this just a Windows thing? Because on my Mac I can scroll through them using the Up and Down arrows after I highlight the font name.

Not to mention the fact that it’s a pop-up menu. I’m curious about this, too. Must be a Windows thang.

And OSX of course comes with a decent font manager than allows you to check out fonts fairly easily.

It was a real “WTF?!?” moment the first time I tried to change fonts in AE7. I thought for sure that font support would have ben enhanced in this version. This is an Adobe product after all. But instead, it seems worse! WTF!?!
