    I agree with updating the system software – I think thats what fixed it in the end (along with a total wipe of the drive).
    I hope to get to the room where the old machine is and see if any notes are still there.

    Ok – let me see if I can find where I stashed my notes on that one… all I remember is that is was not a battery issue. Mine was a G4 dual 800. Are you running Final Cut Pro version 3 or the 1st verion of 4?

    I think th enotes are on that computer (which is not at my poffice anymore… but let me look around).

    macgurus.com has some great SATA boxes, cards and drives….

    althought it seems like monarch computer has the best price on drives…. I just got a 400 Gig seagate for $255
