that should be no problem, to ad more than 2 you will need some 3rd party brackets, but 2 is fine.

  • All seems well here as well… only did a little FCPro work, mail, photoshop, iCal all seem ok.

What Mark said is true… but I just talked to someone re: family portraits, and they use iPhoto, and seeing as how I paid a BUNCH of $… she seems to be doing ok… this is also based on her nice office space / studio, and the number of people I know who have used her.

Its my opinion that the ‘regular joe’ will not see that much diff…. sure if they are shown them side by side they will pick the better one… but if they see just the ‘babyvari’ they will not think twice. If the acting/story is good they will tlak about that, if they suck, they will laugh at it… but I’ll bet they will not say “Wow that looks liek it was shot on a cheap camera” or “Look at the depth of field issues”…. after all these people watch reality TV with lipstick cams, dumped onto a badly set-up home TV, via who know what kind of compressed cable system. Or they watch super compresssed footage over the web – again on a monitor that is not ‘set-up’ correctly. I ask ‘regular joe’ types if they ever see compression in DVD’s from Blockbuster… they often have no idea what I am talking about.

We recently dubed 2inch masters that had sat in a non-climate controled garage for 25 years, dubed them to digibeta, captured them to 8-bit uncompressed, back to digibeta, then ingest into the master server (not sure how compressed this is) then out to air (well they air in July)… and I’m sure they will do great in the ratings.

Font Book takes about 20 seconds to open with approx 2000 fonts… but I cant print ’em… thats the thing I need. Version tracker has some ideas, but not good feedback on them (or at least the cheap ones).

    Thanks,
    Harry.

System update requires 10.4 i think…. you can direct download here
    https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

also even better – iTunes supports video… you can even buy video & song
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=52656051&selectedItemId=52656014

maybe this will turn into a iMovieTicket or iNetFlix type thing?

    Thanks,
    Harry.

If you have access to another newish mac you can try starting it up in ‘target disc mode’ – that way your smashed mac will show up as a firewire drive on the desktop of the ‘main’ mac.

To do this 1st unplug al FireWire devices from both computers. Then make sure that the Target Mac is turned off, the ‘main’ mac can be on. Connect the 2 macs with a firewire cable, and star the smashed mac up while you hold down the “t” key.
Hold it down till you can maybe see the firewire symbol on the smashed screen – or if you cant make it out wait till you smashed disc appears on the ‘main’ macs desktop. Now you can copy all your data to the good mac. When you are done – drag the disc to the trash, power down, and unplug.

    Thanks,
    Harry.

Yes have you tried an external firewire drive?

Also… odd hunch… Is the keyboard the one that came with the mac? Do you have that one?

Can you unplug the internal HD and force a CD boot?

    Thanks,
    Harry.
