For $495 you can upgrade your Xpress Pro (Academic) to Media Composer (Commercial license).”

I think this is not true.Only Avid Xpress Pro Commercial owners can upgrade to Avid Composer Commercial for USD449.

I maybe wrong …If anyone can put light on it or any link to verify the above.

The latest version of Avid Composer 2.8 includes manuals which says ‘Avid Composer and Sympony Nitris’ Basic Guide…

Is this some indication of Avid plans in Feb…..Hmmmm

    Hi,
    Where is 720p/25 support?
    Where is XDCAM EX1 support?

Paying 45K and still have to wait for years to get a format in your NLE …..crazy man.

Let us hope Feb 2008 brings in something great & new from AVID?
Maybe a FREE upgrade for Adrenaline users to Nitris(..just kidding)

    Hi,
Thats why I am seeing so many Adrenalines on ebay…Has the time come for me to also put it there..I have one with Dnxcel board with AMC2.7.

Will there be a third party hardware support such as for AJA Kona cards or Decklink cards…aka FCP.

January 4, 2008 at 7:48 am in reply to: What will happen in 2010?

    Hi,
After reading all the healthy discusion one point comes to mind that if ‘big broadcasters’ such as CNN,IBN are Avid’s main client and they do not care for single owner or personal users then why not stop marketing these products in open market and go for exclusive contacts.
….Avid has always segmented there market into low profile(Avid liquid..That’s why Pinnalce was taken over),Avid Xpress DV and PRO -midsegment and Avid Nitris etc- higher segment.
So they cannot offer the features into their mid segment products that are available in competition products because this will kill their high end products…Businesswise this make sense…but in doing so they are aleinating themselves from the market.
    your views….

    Hi,
Well said Tim and Ill request Avid lovers to give their unbiased opinion on this post so that it becomes noticible and Avid guys also have a look here….whether they act or not is doubtful…Act fast Avid ….February may be too late.
As for me just thinking to dump off my Avids’s and switch to something better.. u know what…and as rental house it make better sense.

    Hi,
Is this a indication that try to clear the ‘Adrenalines’ you have and shift to products such as AJA Kona IO HD with FCP?
…….or wait for Avid announcement in case they do a trade in for Adrenalines…which I seriously doubt.

January 1, 2008 at 9:44 am in reply to: What will give better results…?

    Hi,
I just went to the AJA site and really the AJA io hd is an
    excellent product.But just one querry:
    1. Which Laptop is recommended for on field acquisition?
    2. Which storage drive is recommended?

With an AJA io hd available roughly for USD3200 or even less
I think it is totally worth it.

Can you please post the results of your tests.
    Thks
    Harcharan
