Thank you for the response, Dave!

Yeah, it is indeed CC 2015. I’m positive this has happened to me before in 2014 as well, so perhaps I’ll to test out CS6 and see if that’s where it works…. curious. If this isn’t a bug… what is Adobe thinking??

    Oh my goodness, it works!

What a totally strange bug, I never would have thought it was a monitor problem. Thank you so much!

    Thanks for the reply!

I realized when I re-installed it reverted me back to version 6.0.0. I updated to 6.0.5, but nothing has changed. Also, my VRAM is 1024 Mb, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

I’m hesitant to revert to an old operating system because updating to Yosemite fixed a ton of Premiere issues I was already having. (It’s impossible to win all battles, isn’t it?)

I’m wondering if I just need to talk to my boss about upgrading my system. It’s an old computer, and perhaps the hardware is outdated? It wasn’t initially built for 4K editing, and since we’re going to hopefully be doing more and more 4K projects, perhaps some new hardware is in order.

However, I’ve been researching and it seems like this system should at least be able to handle 4K. Am I totally wrong?

OH MY GOODNESS! I went back and studied the sample project you gave me and realized I was clicking the “Draft 3D” button (because that’s what I thought I had to have selected to enable 3D layers…) AND HUZZAH! It worked!

Thank you so much for all the help, Brian!

    Thanks Brian,

Here is what I just attempted:

    Environment Layer test

When it goes to black (or checkerboard, when I have the BG set to transparent…) I can’t rotate with the camera or anything. It’s just like the layer vanished.

Thank you so much for the example, Brian! I was able to open it up and have all the layers work perfectly.

However, when I opened a new composition and mimicked exactly what your layers were, my environment layer still disappeared! Is there a specific order I need to do it in?

I made my solid layer with a fractal noise effect, then made a new camera and text layer. I made them 3D enabled. I have ray-traced enabled. I then pre-composed my background layer before right clicking and selecting “environment layer.” My background layer then goes black.

It just seems so straightforward, I can’t imagine where I’m messing up!

I’m using CS6. Most of the tutorials I followed were for CS6 as well.

November 19, 2014 at 9:52 pm in reply to: Music won’t play in 60fps timeline?

I actually did start this project after I updated. I’ve also gone in to several of my projects that I’ve done both pre and post update and none of them will play audio in 60fps sequences.

As you suggested, Ann, I tried making a new project and still no dice. I’m totally baffled!

Thanks for the reply! But the music track is already a wav file. And now i’m realizing it’s all audio tracks, not just my music file. Hm. I just recently updated my OS to Yosemite, I wonder if it’s a bug that popped up?

November 17, 2014 at 9:37 pm in reply to: Small pixel art becomes fuzzy when scaled up

What are the dimensions and format of the graphic?

There is no way for Premiere to scale up a small, pixel-based photo (JPEG, PNG, etc) and have it remain clear. You’d have to first make the pixel art bigger in whatever program you made it in. If you’re working with a 1920×1080 Premiere timeline, your image should be closer to those dimensions if you want the quality to remain good.

This is what I mean: https://www.1stwebdesigner.com/design/pixel-vector-graphics-difference/
