I’m using a Marshall 7″ as a field monitor with V-mount batteries. It only has composite, s-video and component inputs/outputs, but I think there is a sdi option available.

I like the results I get, although I noticed that there’s a green cast predominance on the image.

Playing NDF footage in a DF cheap camera will cause you problems with TC, though it will play the image normally.

Since you’re going online an want to avoid TC issues, I’d rent a deck or a dvx100 to digitize your footage.

Yeah I know. But the DV format is by default DF.

Any dv camera (including your 200$ one) can playback 24p footage, because it is recorded as 60i with pulldown.

Those cheap little dv camera only record and play DF timecode. I think you still can digitize your NDF clips, but you may have problems with the timecode.

Correct, you need an HDV camera or deck to playback HDV footage.

    Hope I helped,

Yes Tom, both are avaiable from “other functions” menu, under tape protect. POWEROFF sets the power off after 5 minutes and STBY sets the cylinder head to the stop mode, so the camera takes longer to start recording when you hit record button. Page 50 in the manual.

    Thank you guys…
It seems that the dvxuser batteries are the best choice. Right now I’m waiting for my dvx to arrive and anxious to read your book Barry, so much to learn.

    there’s a word missing… lens tissue like rosco’s.

I always clean the eyepiece with the same care I have for my lenses. First, you blow the dirt off using a compressed air blast and then wipe it with a lens like rosco’s.

Dv xpress can’t do it… you’ll have to try Avid xpress pro. Then you create a 23,976p project and under settings tab >film and 24p, you choose advanced pulldown before you start the capture.
