I do a lot of videogame recording as a hobby at home ( my lovely Neo Geo! ) and it works perfectly, especially that i connect it using component and i can upres it on the fly with the IO HD.

I have this exact setup you’re asking about. The difference between the Pro card and the normal card is the chipset they use. The Pro one has a Marvell chipset, just like the desktop version, that is faster (mine does around 170 MB/S ) and it is not affected by Apple’s Express Slot Update that slowed down all Silicon Image Based cards (

The old card could only do around 100 MB/S .I use ProRes HQ at 1080P 29.97 everyday with a 2007 Macbook Pro 2.4 / 4G Ram with no issues with the IO HD and the Lacie Big Quadra.

Hello Bob!
I actually have most of the equipment you said minus the Gen 10,that i really want to buy.I plugged the deck to a mixer with xlr cables,but there isn’t any sound coming from it either.No audio degraded or distorted.Tried the IO HD to the mixer with xlr and it has sound coming from the laptop.I was using the deck headphone out put just because it was easier.As i said there is audio coming into the deck because the level bars are moving and i can hear from speakers or headphones.
I know how to select the inputs for the deck,it is all selected for the SDI input and the output was for the headphones and,later,for the xlr outputs.If the problem is the lack of video ref,i’ll be more than glad to donate my blood.Always learning….

Yes,it can.just choose the easy setup for it.Make sure you have the newest drivers installed.

HDMI 1.3 spec might be the problem…the IO HD doesn’t accept encrypted signals.Use a component cable instead.

It doesn’t…..any sugestions for a good,reasonably priced deck for hdv that has RS 422?Seems to be the easiest solution…
