  • Actually he needs a V2digital and a UDC.
Or an FS1 will do as well but that could be a little bit of overkill.

    Hi Bruce,

    it won’t be thunderbolt 2.
nobody can release a device with thunderbolt 2 before apple does.
until then any unit you can buy is thunderbolt 1

    Looks like the blackmagic bug.

Announcing a new product with tons of features but when you finally get it half of those features are planned for a future free firmware update.

that update might be available in the near future or not, it could also be an entirely new product what is not free off course 🙁

You might want to consider the R4 or R6 instead.
I know they are a little bit bigger, actually a lot bigger but they also have the onboard raid controller so no need to install drivers on the computer when you want to use the storage.
also an R6 filled with 1TB drives will be fast enough for you and will have 4.7TB of raid 5 storage space on it.

you have it figured out. kistor SSD’s and kistor dock will alow you the fasted transfer speeds. I suggest you want to use a save raid 5 or raid 6 storage like a promise pegasus R4/R6 or the more compact J4.

The pegasus units have dual thunderbolt sockets so they will alow you to daisy chain.

The J4 is a lot more portable, downside is it needs a driver so it is almost plug and play but not really.
once the J4 driver is installed it runs really smooth, really fast
    and small.

  • What are you using? premiere? FCPX? AVID ?

it is a standard USB3 micro cable but if your host computer doesn’t have USB3 connections you can also use a standard USB2 micro cable.
