What format is the media in? (DV/HDV/DVCPRO/DVCPRO100/Whatever uncompressed?)

1. You have a render all function to make sure that everything gets rendered.
2. Graphics and DV aren’t a good combination. If you’re going to DVD, you could consider separate sequences for graphics in some uncompressed mode and export them separately to DVDSP for final assemble in DVDSP.

Go with the 1 Gb sticks. It gives much more room when you eventually want to fill the rest of the slots. (And one day you will, I promise!).
Go non ECC. Wether one is faster than the other is (acording to BareFeats.com) a latency issue. You can have faster and slover versions of both. But for non critical apps (which FCP is considered to be in comparison with a nuclear research app)non ECC is the way to go.

So, very true: I never mix within FCP. I actually never have fired up the new soundtrack, even though I had some fun with the first.
Blackmagics cards work fine with Cubase and Nuendo or Logic / DP for that sake.
What I am asking relates to sound routing. Not sound mixing.
Simply: Do I need an extra soundcard. I have already one Yammy digital mixer and an 896, but I’m setting up a second machine for dedicated post work. Audiomixing and HD video,

And AJA has the up- and downrez advantage to BM, right?I think there’s gonna be some 576 to 720/720 to 1080 and vice versa the next couple of years.
My dealer says that they have had lots less problems with the BM products that they sell, than the AJA. Especially with drivers and generall compatibility, and has claimed that AJA is the winner in NTSC land, while BM is king of the hill in PAL.

I don’t even know from whitch supplier they get their best margins. -;)You’re the first here who have explicidily stated that PAL’s ok, though.

The AJA is not part of an audio mixing package. 5.1 mixing is not done inside Final Cut Pro. It allows you to get your mix into the system, and monitor, but I am not sure of what you want to accomplish.
What I want to accomplish is to set up a postroom for video and audio post, where one can mix f.ex. 5.1 / 7.1 in addition to stereo.
Question is: Will I need an additional soundcard for the audio mixdown if I go the AJA route. I wouldn’t with decklink Studio – as I would have had 8 channels of Core Audio AES or analogue out for post. Seems I will need an additional soundcard with the AJA solution. That is… sorta ok. Just need to know.
