    Bri,

    I have not used FCE, but in FCP, I would cut a shot into the timeline first, and THEN reverse the clip you cut in in the manner you describe. You can then adjust the in and out once it’s in the timeline.

    In addition to what Enzo mentions, I’d consider to download Nattress free reversal plugin because… eh … it looks better! -;)

    There’s always that!

    Pretty much anything Graham’s plugins do, they do better than the standard FCP versions.
