    Hi Peter,

My issue is not being able to save the Vegas project when I use paint stroke in RED 5. This has been confirmed by John Rofrano (see older post), it’s not specific to my system.
I don’t know whether it’s a Vegas or Boris issue, but would like to have a solution.

[peter mcauley] “I’ll ask someone from support to get in touch with you to help with this.”

OK, Waiting to hear from the support. FYI I sent the email on May 30. Let me know if I need to send it again.

    Hi peter,

Thanks for the all your answers.
However, I don’t understand why not being able to save a project is a minor problem for you.
I also notice another “bug”. It’s possible to import a .mov file “motion jpeg” in 32 bit boris red but not in boris 64, both in stand alone version. (the file are coming from artbeats)

Thanks John. At least I know this is not due to my computer.
I report it to Boris as well but no news from them.

    John,
Your answer make me think of a problem in my workflow. I tried on the same event and I found out why it doesn’t work before.
I don’t want the tracking to start at the beginning of the event but 4s after the beginning of the event (@ 41min). At that time this is the 61500th frame (Pal here), that’s why I tried to set up a start tracking frame of 61500. Actually I forget to do the basic math, so when I set up the start tracking frame at 100 (4s), everything works fine.
Maybe, Borisfx can update the help file as I haven’t found any information regarding the start tracking frame refers only to the event relative frame.

Thanks Stewart. I was afraid that nesting is the only solution though not fast and easy to use just for motion tracking.
By the way I tried Red and it’s possible to use motion tracking only on the event (expensive though…)

[John Rofrano] “30,000 frames is over 16 minutes at 30fps. Do you have a continuous scene that you need to blur for over 16 minutes?”

No, I only need to blur from 41min to 41min28s. It’s over the 30,000 frames for the start of the tracking point as it seems that BCC always want to track from the beginning of the project even though the fx is applied to a single event.

You can apply the track compressor audio effect at track or bus level to keep your volume at -6db, w/o the hassle of adjusting the volume for each events.
