big it into AE nd render a quicktime. You can use the Avid codec or if you don’t have that on your PC, the animation codec will work.

I find it odd that an Applebee’s waitress has been touch screening for 5 years but video editors still don’t. I even have clients try to touch icons. I think thats just to smudge my screen tho.
to me, the keyboard, monotor and mousing contraption of any sort otta be one big unit.

  • Jessee, I never had a problem inserting with other Avids. Adrenalinehas a way of making easy things hard.
I too have resorted to just laying off the whole show again. Same deck, same Adrenaline.
Maybe we should start billing Avid for all the hours we are having to work unbilled.
at least until Adreanline is ready for release.

the demo reel forum here on he cow can be inspiring. It sounds like you ned inspiration more than a class here. Search around the hottest ad agncy sites and look at reels. Then just pick em apart and find your own ways to apply what you have seen. Edgyness can’t come from a class icomes from breaking riules once learned in a class. Jump cuts crushed blacks, glows on the beat… things me may have been told were wrong at one point hve to tossed outthe window.
Watch alot of MTV. You see cuts in the middle of dissolves, glows that cut on an ramp off, added garbage to what was pretty video at one point, and the 180 rule shatteed over and over again.
Play. pend tie in front of your machine off te clock o your own project. Funk it up. Createyour own custom tansitions combining filters nd masks, play with different glow combos and pend some time flaying some fast text. As soon as you start to develop your own look or style, change it all up drasticly. This keeps ya from gettin in a rut and will add more looks to your reel.
Also, when a client brings n something fro ESPN saying “Iwant this look exactly” don’t just come close enogh to it to pasify em and don’t try to talk em out ofit. Take it as a challenge to totally nail it. You’ll find these pieces often windup being your favorite piece n your reel because they hae sch a different look than the stuff yo get to dream up on your own.
    most of all, have fun.

Producers don’t necessarily just come to editors for the button-pushin’. Many, if not most, are looking for some colaberaton in the process. This means when voice activation takes the place ofakeyboard and a mouse, one oftwo tings will happen. The editor will be exluded completely, having no need for a media processor anymore, or the editor will double his or her rate as the co-producer he or she is.
As you can imagine, at first, editors will most likely be scrapped and then reintroduced once the requirement is rediscovered.
As for ergonomics, I’d say a couch and a big screen. Little ned for a console as a work station, I’d think. Just a place for paperwork, notes, ect and pety of room or the snackage.

My belief is that we won’t be replaced completely by voice activation but significantly enough the role of editor as we know it will go away foever. Those who wait on timcodes and direcion while editing will be forced into other fields and those who create more than button-push will wind up with the entire post-production budget.

+1 for little miss sunshine. Awesome piece of film making in these bells n whistles times.
I ave no guesses for oscarsthis year. Havn’t seen enough movies to know whats goin on.

  • that leaves room for an “upgade”
    lol

  • Hi Joey.
    Try a CMX3600 EDL.
As long as your reel names are 5 characters or less, you’ve used no plugins or filter, and your not using more th 4 audio tracks, that otta work.
do you have to have two vdeo tracks in the rough cut? This may be confusing the issue, depending on what ya have goin on up there.

It’s so hard to say, not being able to see it.
Since you created a matte from scratch, can ya just create a new grafik with an alpha channel?
it may be quicker than trouble shooting.
