  • I really wish I had been recording the last conversation I had with Avid tech support.
    It went something like this:
“so like, nevermind the buggyness of getting this stuff in the box, I’m in a 1080i project and when I push play with it in HQ mode, it just goes black.”
“yes, This is normal. You can’t play HQ HD out of the Adrenaline.”
“what? so Adrenaline can’t handle HDV yet?”
“yes, it can but you can’t watch it.”
    “what?!”
“you can export it after you cut it in half quality mode and then you can see it.”
“so, Adrenaline can’t handle HDV yet?”
    “yes. It can.”
    “wait, whos on first?”
    lol
Bob Zelin can explain exactly what you need to work around Adrenaline’s premature HDV isms. Firewire still isn’t our friend, at least adrenaline’s friend.

I have always liked Saphire’s glows. Since BCC comes included now, I have grown quite fond of BCC’s glow. It adds more saturation than Sapphire’s. Two different vibes really and they can easily be combined for that perfect look.

I’ve heard ya talk, pardner. Aint gonna happen.

    your on theright track.
Even on the same box, one can’t just export a quicktime reference like we al thought we could. We have to do a video mixdown, eating another 30 minutes of drivespace in this case.
Kind of a drag. I bought an adrenaline cuz it as DVD author friendly and HDV native.
    lol
    boy do I feel stupid.

alright check this title tool bevel trick:
type your text in white. Add your soft shadow, kern each character as you normally would, get it designed how it’s gonna be. Now select it with the arrow and copy paiste it. You can now make it the color ya want, with whatever gradiants ya want. Remove your drop shadow on that top one and then use the cursor keys to scoot over one click and down one click.
    viola! Cheezy quick bevel.
I know you can bevel quick enough in AE but this is infinatly faster and some projects warrent this kind of quickness.
hence having the tile tool, I guess. 😉

the fact is, you’d never have a gig if ya didn’t say well sure!
ya gotta throw yourself in. You have to be able to do what you say but you do have to push yourself beyond your comfort level all the time. I took a staff gig at a big network in ’95. They hired me over the phone after asking if I had experience on the the Adcom Nighsuite. After responding “well sure”, agreeing on a salary, and scheduling a moving date to Nashville, I sought out the one and only NighSuite in Dallas and crashed coursed the heck out it. Turned out to be the best staff gig I ever had. And that gig, of course, led to the next one, leading to the next and so on. Long story short, had I said “no but I’m a quick learner”, I’d still be working for a fraction of my worth.
You’ll feel right at home on the Adrenaline. There are a few more bells n whistles to play with. FluidMotion is one of the coolest. you’ll find it crashes infinatly more than what you are use to. This isn’t you. It’s just how Adrenaline likes to play.

  • nice.
I sometimes get asked if I have a filter to drop 20 pounds off a talent. I’ve actually warped beer bellies before and gotten positive response by drinken producers. Careful how you oppease here, they just may wanna keep it.
type the script into one of thos online automated voice doohickies just to mess with him.

I found the youtubeness very distracting. You have some great chops though. Only thing that stuck out to me was the McDonalds spot. It just wasn’t as good as the rest of the stuff I saw and it kicks off your spot reel. Everything else was great.

    poor mans’ reverb:
ya have your VO on track one.
pop it in on track 2 too then drag it two frames.

    woohoo!

works great for those big “Sunday Sunday Sunday!” spots.
