can’t play HDV unless I am in half quality mode (which I don’t go in)
I hit play in full quality mode and the screen just goes black. It’ll show me an aliased frame though when I pause. 😉
After speaking with Avid tech support, I found the adrenaline bob can’t play it out. ???
“soooo, the adrenaine can’t do HD yet?” I aked
“oh yeah, you can edit HD in adrenaline.”
    “buuut, I can’t play it.”
“exactly, you’ll have to export it to an HDV deck as data.”
“buuuut, I can’t watch it as I edit.”
    “right.”
“sooo, the adrenaline can’t handle HD yet.”
    “no, it’ll do it.”

    freakin’ whos on first, man.
A big reason I laid out 45k for an adrenaline is because it was “HDV native”. Another big reason was the ease of DVD authoring vie Avid DVD. Well, not a single frame of HD has come out of this box, try as I have and ever one hour DVD I author costs me a phat video mixdown I seldom have drive space for. You can see why I am not happy with this product. If Avid led about it only haf as much, it’d still be a rip.

you need a release from anyone who speaks. (technically)
Chain stores are hard because of company policies sometimes. I have great luck, walking in, being nice to the manager and lettin em know what I am up to. Phone calls are no good here… not at this level. Just too easy for em to say no. At the same time, ya can’t show up with a crew ad start asking then either. Feel it out before hand. Use your people skills. Smile alot.

oh yeah.. the ole 1800 sync bar. It doesn’t record this way… just shows as ya record.
You may have luck selecting consumer source in your capture tool.
( are ya digitizing from it and seeing it then?)

you really touched on it there.
The word Avid use to be worth something. I remeber in the early to mid 90s, the phone would ring and the producer on the other side would just ask, “do you have an Avid?”
“no, but we have a… hello? hello?”
It didn’t matter if they knew what it was or what it could do. Tey wanted the A word in their workflow. Now, I realize there is money in selling software off of shelves and I know they lost alot of love in the big anti-mac movement in the late 90s but this whole stick em while we can ‘tude that Avid has adopted will eventually result in the end of them. As an old Avid fan, I truely hate this. They ue to stand proud as an untouchable industry leader and now, in all honesty, those with Vagas have a leg up on those who owe 45k on their adrenalines (that are advertised at 25k.) It’s sad when ya look back an it’s embarrassing and frustrating right now. I crashed 4 times today with a client in the room. This may not sond like a big deal, and obviosly doesn’t to Avid but I use to crash 4 times in 2 months.
… and with the same client in the room. They do know the difference here. and tey want consessions. Consessions that greatly effect my bottom line. This is not unlike watching your hero all player get on crack, cop a tude and throw it all away.

see, thats what threw me… they discontinued Media Composer as far as I’m concerened.
so, why do I still owe 20k on this heap when folks can grab this fo 5k and hardware t out?
ouch… is that another knife back there?

the BCC glow for meridien based Avids is quite differnt than the new one. All the controls handle the same but the result is all posturized. I highly recomend sapphire plugins, man. The filmeffect alone is worth it.
that said, you can fake a glow the same way as the tutorial. You can use a color effect ofr the brightness and saturation then nst a resixe effect on there and animate the defocus. Not erfect but works great if you ar without a decient effcts pallette.
