    Sounds like a week.
When quoting, I add the hours or days it otta take then just double it. Having the client in the room make it take exactly twice as long.
    unless they bring thier client.

In he intrest of time, I usually just add the glint as filler above the track I want to affect and then nest an animatte effect over that to have it just on the rim. With a feathered edge, it uaually works ok. When I have tme to do it right, I export the clip asa reference, take it into AE, cut out the rim with an animated mask, import that clip with an alpha, place it on the trk above th original shot ad pply he glint to the alpha. Works perfectly but takes a little bit longer and sometimes thats not possible under a deadlne.
Fun to do for cars on the drag strip tho. Somthin funny about bling on the track to me.
(which is why I race in 20s!) lol

    bringing us to the question…
    does he really “an Avid”?
I see much more bang for the buck elsewhere. From stability to options, a FCP would save him thousands, offer better quality and give him more capabilities.

  • I’d be willing to be some local Avid owners would train you on their Avids in exchange for FCP training. I’d call around and see. I wouldnt write a check for classes though.

avid just likes png files the most. Handles soft drop shadows and such much better but as you are seeing they are many years behind the competition with this. Avid seems to have never assumed we make finished shows for a living. They still like to have ya hit multiple applications to git r dun.

    I like stagetools for AE.
I have found if spending the time to mess with marquee, I could easily just do it in AE.
you can select different cursors, ect. Pretty neat lil plugin.
