If you are talking about rendering the same perspective view, even after you change the view in the viewport, the chances are your camera has a position keyframe on frame 1, and unless you delete the keyframe or redefine it, the render will always jump to frame 1.
I know, it happened to “a friend of a friend of mine”:-)
Hi,
You’ll find that there are gigs upon gigs taken by iDVD themes, Garage Band sound files etc.
To see your whole HD and remove what you don’t want/need check out the Disk Inventory X. https://www.derlien.com/
Please use wisely!!!! It shows ALL files incl. hidded and system.
Thank you,
The problem is that I will have the new computer after the “old” one is gone.
I have backups of (I think…) everything on an external Maxtor drive and I am hoping to restore the lot to the new machine.
Sorry, I don’t have a solution, but an additional word of warning.
I (stupidly) renamed my hard disc from “Macintosh HD” to the user name (so that it is easier to find stuff on a LAN).
As it turns out some apps and utilities were looking for the OLD name and would not work properly. For example the backup would not back up ANYTHING as it couldn’t find the NAME, rather than simply using the VOLUME ID or number or whatever.
Very unexpected and unpleasant behaviour from an otherwise sophisticated OS.
So the solution is, set it up, install stuff and don’t TOUCH!!

Hi,
Coming from a similar background we decided on C4D for the college purely because of the learning curve.
Maya seems to have been written by engineers for engineers (nothing wrong with that) and is probably more “high end” in some respect.
However if you are training designers, rather than “mouse jockeys” give them easy to use, powerful tools.
C4D allows to do simple things in a few minutes, and you need to learn more obscure procedures as need arises, with Maya, I felt, you have to learn an awful lot to do even the simplest of things.
Thanks Adam,
Bummer, bummer, bummer…
A back-save (even with some feature loss) would be nice, at least for the models.
Simple generators, HN etc, don’t seem that much different.
Oh, well, upgrade=money it is then.
