I think we are all far too ignorant to be calling for a specific person’s job at Apple. No one here really knows exactly where the fault lies. It’s all just speculation. I am personally impressed by certain aspects of Final Cut Pro X, but I certainly wouldn’t even attempt a project on it that I was being paid for. How do you know that Ubillos wasn’t the guy that put in the good stuff and someone else made him release the software before it was complete? Maybe it was his fault, but unless you work at Apple, I doubt that you would really know.

Yes but I certainly wouldn’t compare the new color correction tool to a Davinci Resolve.

This is the most informative post I’ve come across so far about the new release. There are several people on here posting repeatedly about how they don’t like the new program because it’s different. Final Cut Pro is a program that has a somewhat high learning curve and therefore I think it should take more than just a few minutes to give it a fair evaluation. I was nearly scared off by some of the posts I’ve seen today, but I then realized that it was the same 5 people making all of the comments. I can understand why fcpx can’t export to xml. It handles sequences very different than the previous more linear timeline, but does it also lack an xml import? If so this doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I hope someone finds a workaround quickly for bringing in old FCP7 sequences. Thanks a lot for your post. It was really helpful information.

I agree that they need to change the way the app store is laid out. It feels a lot like I-tunes, which is great for browsing when you don’t really know what you want, but not great for searching out apps that have a specific purpose. On my last visit to the app store I wasn’t sure whether they just didn’t have the kind of apps that I wanted or if I just hadn’t found them yet.

I’ll miss discovering that the autosave vault contains 100 gigs worth of old project autosaves and it’s the reason why there’s no room left on your startup drive.

I actually used a star wipe on a cable network show once just to prove I could do it. FCPX needs a feature that lets you send a message back in time to tell the camera man what he’s not doing right.

yes apple makes more money doing other things. Does that mean it makes economic sense to stop doing the things that make less money? No. Apple is not a company of 5 people who can only do one thing at a time. There are thousands of people doing different things. There are people that work on pro video applications and there are people that work on IOS products. The people making the video applications are still making a profit for apple, and therefore are still part of their business. For the same reason that Chevrolet still makes the Corvette, Apple will continue to make products for the higher end video professional.

I was also at the meeting. I sat in the back and laughed at people that seemed to be having a breakdown when they discovered that certain features were likely not part of FCPX. In a way I can understand their frustration though. Yes FCP7 works fine right now, but someday in the future it won’t be supported by new Apple hardware and people will possibly have to find a completely new workflow. Change isn’t always easy.

My guess is that the admin that enters the data for releasedates.co just entered a random number in the date column.

Lol, great video. I’ve actually realized I’ve missed something in an edit while I was asleep.
