Thanks, Bob. Yes, I went through quite a bit of due diligence. We had one bad power adapter, and one bad box. But out Management Console went out and is not intermittently not communicating properly with ALL boxes. Thanks for the help, but we have been talking with Avocent. Im just surprised by all of the sudden trouble weve been having and was looking for unspoken known problems that may be a big red flag to switch course. But all in all, got great feedback about the products so we will continue the ship straight ahead!

    Thanks again.

David, thank you so much for your response. I did not communicate all of the variables.

[Firewire is digital, it only captures DV as the DV was recorded, and FCP is QT native, so capturing as an AVI with Firewire also ain’t gonna happen. You would need a capture card with analog inputs to input media to another format.]

True. I am working in a pure SDI house. I just am using DV to create a mezzanine file for encodes, but our encode is proprietary and will only accept 480×272 AVI and WAV elements. We then encode to MP4 from there.

[Try creating a custom timeline that is 480×272. Cut you material on that and when you export a reference file it will be 480×272. That’s not how anyone I know does their work, but if you want to do it that way give it a shot.]

Ive tried this, and of course, 720 resolution always overrides on export even though the record screen is showing the 480 resolution and the timeline as well. Tried square pixel ratio too. Still 720 results on export with AVI.

[You would have to make a custom Compressor preset. Look at the DVD presets and see how they were created, as they contain the elements for creating separate output files for audio and video.]

Thank you. I just couldnt find the WAV codec in Compressor. Ill check again.

Again, thank you for your help.

Perhaps you might want to share with the rest of us the process you went through and how the sale was made?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
